...that you Neo?

For those who wonder the changing image quality, my Lumia 920 had to be repaired once again so I've been taking some of the photos with my old HTC Desire Z. I got the Lumia back last week and so far so good... nothing's broken... yet. And I must speed up the posting process if I've taken this week ago already, sorry sorry!

I'm happy how this turned out. It's pretty much just how I planned it to be from the first draw. This took a while to complete as I'm doing my job at few different locations nowadays and I don't carry the post-it notes with me :)

I also found my old post-it stash and there is at least one picture never seen here ... so stay tuned!


Oh yeah, guys, girls, please tell me which is your favourite doodle so far?

I was thinking moving this blog to tumblr... what do you think, should I?

Noir

Self portrait :p

I use jackets with high collar quite often and sometimes I wear my Fedora with them... and I look like this :) Ooh, now you know that I have a beard, GZ! And yeah yeah, I know, I 've seen  these picture and I know that I don't look exactly as cool as Indiana Jones! Just let me have my fantasies...

I got the inspiration from some Noir movie that I watched recently, I forgot the title already. Some times later I did this while watching a Zombie movie... forgot the title of that one too... Zombies in Africa anyways, boring as hell.

Been busy and I haven't had the time to post this earlier... it's been ready for several weeks :p I go my bike back from the repair shop and I've been hammering the suspension in the nearby forest ever since. The summer is so short up here in the North that I just can't sit inside and play around with computers all day long. Soon it's cold and dark again, hrr!

The winter has been dark and cold so I wanted to create something brighter and happier.... sunset and a meadow, which later turned to a murder scene . I miss summer and I can't wait for the snow to melt away so that I can fully open the MTB season.

I'm quite satisfied how the body and the environment came up, but I'm not sure about that blood ... pool... thing and the trail of blood from the knife. Well, what has been drawn cannot be undrawn or something :p Originally there was a sleeping man... I guess it was the darkness outside the livingroom window that killed the harmony.

Throne

Something straightforward for a change. This was done rather quickly while waiting the computer to process some heavy stuff at the office. I'm pretty sure that this is a future me, Anon the senior. The stress has liberated me from the tyranny of the shampoo and I enjoy the morning news in the throne room :p ... this could also reflect the level of interest that I had for the task at hand :p

I've been enjoying my winter vacation so there are no new notes created in a week or so. We have been travelling around so I haven't had the extra time to doodle while watching movies at home. I'm also trying to spend time with my son as much as possible.

I have only one picture in the reserve and we are finally in the present. HOORAY! I'll update it here as soon as possible... From now on I hope that I'll have time to do at least one update per week. It seems that my workload has been rising at the office and thus my drawing pace has dropped :p

Finding Nemo

It's a shame that the great ideas always come late. After filling almost the whole picture with random shapes in an ever lasting status meeting I drew a _thing_ that started to look like a fish in a bowl... or in a cylinder. All in all I like how it came out, although I would like to have an magical eraser so that I could fix at least the upper part of the damn thing :p

This fish in a bottle theme is also something that I might try later to my sketchbook now that I have more clear idea how it should look like with that little fisher on top of it and all.

Curves

What is it? Well, I don't know, but I still like it. Part of me wants to experiment these similar things, shapes... the whole 'Post-it Art style' on bigger canvas but if I do will these things then become just mere scetches? I fear that I'll ruin my whole point keeping these doodlings separate thing from anything else that I do :p

Few more doodles to go and we are finally in the present... meaning that I don't have anything old to show you and I'll update the blog when ever I get new doodles ready. Which can mean basically anything from daily to bi-weekly updates.

Back to basics

It's a mess

Doodling in it's purest form :) Lots of lines and shapes... and a funny skull. It may seem like nothing but these are actually the ones which take lots of time. There are times when I wonder if this more than just doodling as sometimes I find myself thinking so much about the picture that I do not have a single idea what the meeting is about or what I was doing before drawing the lines :)

This was supposed to be an alien (can you spot it?) but as always things get out of control and here we are. I proudly present to you... a beast!, dog, thing!

I was planning to draw the whole head but I feared that I might ruin the good start so it ended up like this. Maybe next time... this actually inspires me to try to draw some kind of old Indian statues head... with the tongue and all, you know? Maybe I'll do a Post-it version first and then a real one to my sketch book once I've practiced :)

Cheesy way

It's a... space, kind of. This is what happens when the milky way meets its expiration date, cheese. I don't like the things that look like space ships but there they are, enjoy :)

Wroooom!

I was daydreaming during one hour status meeting. It's me driving around the sunny city :)

I've always drawn quite traditionally. I mean, I have always tried to have somewhat realistic feel to my pictures even if they are more cartoonish or manga like... But the more I do these post-it doodles I find myself enjoying this style where these mysterious shapes form something recognisable :)

Unsee

Ok, I love this one, it's just perfect! :) It's perfect because I didn't plan to draw this bearded Fred Durst looking guy, the whole face thing was an accident. At some point I noticed the face like shape and tried actually hard to think how to change it to look something different, but what has been seen cannot be unseen, right? Finally I screwed up the "chin" part, it started to look like beard and I gave up, drew the eyes and man do I love it now :)

This is Post-it art!

Another one made while watching BSG. It started out as something with tusks, but quite quickly it turned out as some kind of roman or spartan warrior. The big round thing around the dude was just some randomly shaped cog like thing... but now all I see is a big round shield.

I'm not sure if I like this one or not... I like the "soldier" and how it is built from small cogwheels and "random" shapes. And look at that cute little hand holding that spear ^___^. But then again the picture as a whole feels kind of unfinished ... and what the hell is that thing in the bottom right corner supposed to be?

The ones I draw at home I usually draw in my lap without any pad or support. I hold the Post-it stack against my knee while watching movies and series from the computer and I just draw. Thus, it sometimes leads  to ugly and unintentional shapes but my Post-it art motto is "never start over, it goes how it goes". I may fix the unfortunate slips by drawing over them or "thickening" the lines, but I do not want to start the same drawing from the beginning... at least for me as a creator it would destroy the core idea of the drawing. And besides, sometimes these unfortunate slips force me to change direction and stop thinking the final results too much and I end up with something cool and totally random.

Love?

I think that this is one of the coolest post-it drawings that I've made, but I don't like the fact that it is too ... pre-planned.

This one I made while watching Battlestar Galactica series at home and it actually started as a skull drawing test. Few days later I started to add random shapes around it. Pretty soon it started to look a bit grim and nightmarish and I continued to follow that path knowingly. I was planning to fill the whole note with random lines and shapes, but I didn't want to ruin the "feeling" and I stopped. It however took me several evenings to do this as I was REALLY careful how to continue. Fortunately there's four BSG seasons :)

Well, that's the word that I still feel when watching this... The love is beautiful, but oh so hard, merciless and grim thing. Due to my fiancé's long and, eh,  difficult pregnancy I was a bit depressed when I did this and I felt that I needed to make a point ... that love is dead or love you to death, what ever. Maybe I was listening to this when I got the idea, who knows.

I do not approve this!

What is the meaning of this?

New office location and what do I find? A thick black marker on my desk... I used it to make evident that I did not approve this non-Post-it-art-standard pen!

The purpose of this blog is to publish my so called Post-it art. I have one Q-Connect fine-liner 0.4mm pen (provided by the Company) and lots of Post-it notes, also provided by the Company. I do not use any colors or different pens, the idea is to keep it simple... mainly because I do majority of this stuff at the office and THEY do not pay me for doing the Post-it stuff to the internet :p (note for boss: I update the blog at least outside office hours!)

I try to include a story behind every drawing if it has any. I feel like I need to write something here, it's a blog after all, right? And I like to blabber anyways so... enjoy... and please comment for the sake of conversation :)

I have several notes already done since I started to record them digitally (to FB, duh) at the end of last year. I'll update them here one by one as I want to include the stories and keep the individual blog entries short.

ps. and yeah, you guessed it, I'm not a native English speaker :)
